Fine Arts and Artisan nominations announced

Flume, Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, Boy & Bear, Empire Of The Sun, triple j and Renee Geyer have all picked up ARIA Award nominations as the Fine Arts and Artisan awards are announced.

Covering world, classic and jazz categories, as well as producing and cover art, the seven categories will be announced at the nominations event for the remainder of the ARIA Awards (including Album Of The Year and Group Of The Year) on Tuesday 15 October.

In-demand producer Wayne Connolly and Boy & Bear (who swept 2011's awards with five ARIAs) have got a nod for their production on the band's latest Harlequin Dream record alongside Harley Streten (aka Flume) for his debut, Luke Steele, Nick Littlemore, Peter Mayes and Jonathan Sloan form Empire Of The Sun's Ice On The Dune and Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker for his Lonerism production (he's also noted in the engineering category, as well). Virginia Read flies the classical flag in that flag for her work on Sally Whitwell's All Imperfect Things: Solo Piano Music Of Michael Nyman.

Elsewhere Nick Cave and Warren Ellis are nominated alongside Paul Kelly, Tina Arena and David Bridie in the Soundtrack category.

Indigenous star Shellie Morris has also picked up a nomination in the world category for her fantastic records with The Borroloola Songwomen, Together We Are Strong – Ngambala Wiji Li-Wununga The Song Peoples Sessions.

The awards themselves will take place at Sydney's The Star Sunday 1 December and will be screened on Nine's digital channel GO!.
