First Artist Announced For Dark Mofo 2015

Antony & The Johnsons are playing two shows this June

Experimental music and arts event Dark Mofo has unveiled the first artist for its 2015 program, with art-pop outfit Antony & The Johnsons confirmed to perform at the winter festival.

The acclaimed band, led by English transgender vocalist Antony Hegarty, will perform with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra on Tuesday, 16 and Wednesday, 17 Jun at the Odeon Theatre, Hobart.

Antony & The Johnsons formed in the late '90s, acting as a project for Hegarty to showcase her music alongside her band and a number of different collaborators, including guest turns from Rufus Wainwright, Lou Reed and Boy George among others on the group's Mercury Prize winning 2005 album I Am A Bird Now

They released their most recent studio LP, Swanlights, in 2010, followed by a live album, Cut The World in 2012.
