Some of Australian hip hop's finest will converge in Brisbane for a massive party this month
Stalwart Brissy venue The Zoo has announced a follow-up to their successful Fire Night event, bringing together hip hop from Brisbane and the outer regional scene with TJ, Jesswar, Nasteski, Hedron Collective and Kraznov.
After a successful launch of Fire Night, Strictly For The Heads and Kick Push PR are double-teaming for Fire Night II on Thursday 11 February, opening up with Hedron Collective (producer Ryan Cheney, DJ YAAS and vocalist ‘september’) setting off an early heat with eclectic synths and gliding bass lines to a direct onslaught of lyrics never short of beating around the bush.
Up next, trance act Nasteski switches the evening up a gear with their hypnotising offerings of electronica and unique live band development of punk-rock and jazz to frame the delivery of a smooth, yet haunting melody of vocals keeping the night’s burning fire going strong.
The unmistakable heat of Jesswar returns a poppy-inspired trap-rap of empirical themed hip hop. Her initial shine in 2014 saw her debut EP Peachy make her a noted artist and within a year the single This Train saw her nationally recognised over plenty of commercial radio waves.
Port Macquarie rapper TJ travels up to initiate his new direction of Australian hip hop first developed over a series of live video releases titled Project , incorporating a stunning visual effect and dance choreography to his unrelenting rapid-fire release of rhymes and beats of post-industrial production.
Last but not least, special guest and producer KRAZNOV, of G.A.K., also joins the Fire Night II line-up. For Bris-bang’s hip hop contingent, this night of showcasing an emerging lineup of talent is primed to set the example to a new wave of heat lifting off the Sunshine State’s capital in 2016.
Doors open at 7.30 with pre-sale tickets starting from $10. Head to the events page for more details.
