Grammy Award winner Fiona Apple was arrested on Wednesday evening in Sierra Blanca, Texas, after a border patrol drug-sniffing dog detected hashish on her tour bus.
According to TMZ, the singer/songwriter was taken into custody and spent the night in Hudspeth County jail. The Hudspeth County clerk told Reuters that a judge set Apple's bond at $11,000 on Thursday. She was due to perform in Austin on Thursday evening, but it is unclear whether the show went ahead.
A number of drug charges have taken place in this particular town; amongst those caught include Willie Nelson, Snoop Lion (or Snoop Dogg) and actor Armie Hammer.
The 35 year old artist won a Grammy for her single Criminal, off her debut record Tidal in 1996. This year saw her comeback with The Idler Wheel... which she was in the middle of touring when caught and charged with possession.
