Finland's Prime Minister Criticised For Going To Too Many Festivals

"I have a family life, I have a work life and I have free time to spend with my friends. Pretty much the same as many people my age,"

The Finnish Prime Minister is once again facing criticism for partying too much. Same.

Over the weekend, a video leaked of Sanna Marin, "partying too hard," in a private setting with friends. Critics are saying that the behaviour is not fitting for a Prime Minister. Apparently having fun isn't on the agenda for a PM.

It's not the first time that Marin has received criticism for her engaging in activities that make her smile, with previous criticism stating that she parties too much and attends too many music festivals. Last weekend she was spotted at Flow Festival in Helsinki, preparing to take the stage. In alignment to the criticism, many opposition politicians have called for Marin to take a drug test.

According to the BBC, the 36 year old denies taking drugs, stating that she only consumed alcohol and "partied boisterously," doing legal things.

"I danced, sang, and partied - perfectly legal things. And I've never been in a situation where I've seen or known of others [using drugs]," she said.

"I have a family life, I have a work life and I have free time to spend with my friends. Pretty much the same as many people my age," Marin continued.

"I am going to be exactly the same person as I have been until now and I hope that it will be accepted."

Last year Marin apologised for going clubbing and as a result, became a close contact to COVID-19. "I am very sorry for not understanding that I needed to do that," she wrote after returning a negative COVID test. She continued to follow the close contact rules of her country.

On the night, she was seen dancing in a Helsinki nightclub with friends at the Butchers club until 4am. Marin has been in power since the end of 2019 and still has the full support of her party.
