Finalists Have Been Announced For 2015 ART Music Awards

To celebrate excellence and outstanding achievements in contemporary classical, jazz and experimental music

A celebration and recognition of Australia's best composers, performances and achievements in contemporary classical, jazz and experimental music, the 2015 ART Music Awards have named their finalists in 11 categories.

With winners recognised in categories like Excellence In Jazz, Excellence In A Regional Area and Performance Of The Year, the Award for Excellence In Experimental Music sees finalists Darrin Verhagen, Jon Rose for his work with Ensemble Offspring and Speak Percussion for Ghan Tracks, Luke Johnson for Ornate Boredom Machine and Richard Johnson for the SoundOut Festival of Experimental and Improvised Music.

Morambilla Voices has been named in three categories for their work in regional NSW, while Carl Vine/Sitkovetsky Trio, Damian Barbeler/Genevieve Lacey and James Crabb, Paul Grabowsky/Genevieve Lacey and the Flinders Quartet and Damien Ricketson/Ensemble Offspring find themselves contenders for Instrumental Work Of The Year.

This year sees 38 percent of the finalists new to the ART Music Awards, indicating a healthy mix of new and old talent in APRA AMCOS and Australian Music Centre's annual awards show.

The ART Music Awards will take place at Sydney's City Recital Hall on Tuesday, 11 August.
