Huge shoes to fill.

Ahead of the world premiere tour for Fawlty Towers — Live On Stage, the stage adaption of the classic '70s sitcom, it has today been announced that Australian actor Stephen Hall will play the iconic role of John Cleese's Basil Fawlty, while Blazey Best will play the manic hotel manager's wife, Sybil Fawlty.

No stranger to playing Cleese characters, Hall will take on the role having played all of the veteran UK comic's parts in the 2007 Australian premiere season of Monty Python's Spamalot.

Hall has performed one-man shows at the Melbourne Fringe Festival in 2013, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2014 and for the past four years he has also been a cast member of Shaun Micallef's Mad As Hell

Meanwhile, Best will join the cast having performed in a number of major theatre productions, most recently in the Sydney Theatre Company's production of Arcadia.
