Aussie fans will have to wait a little longer to catch Faith No More live again, with the much-loved US rockers postponing their return Down Under until early 2021 due to COVID-19.

Originally scheduled to kick off this May, Faith No More’s Australian tour will now commence next February.

“Friends… Due to the spread of the COVID-19 we have no choice but to postpone the FNM concerts we had planned in New Zealand and Australia in May,” Faith No More said.

“The circumstances that have forced this decision are well beyond our control but not being able to play for you all stings like a motherfucker. We wanted to figure out how to address our upcoming tour down there in terms of rescheduling and postponements but basically…

“We fully intend to make good on our promise to come down and perform for you all. Hold on to your tickets, postponement dates are as follows. If these new dates don’t work, we’ll refund your ticket. Thank you for supporting us and the quest for public safety.”

Faith No More’s return to Australia will mark their first headline tour of the country in over 20 years.

Speaking to The Music earlier this year, bass player Billy Gould said that the band were excited to be returning to Australia.

“Absolutely!” he said. “We came a lot, really. Even though it’s been a long time, we’ve done some festivals over the past 20 years. It was very strange to realise we haven’t done our own tour since 1997 so that’s almost 20 years, that’s crazy!

“And considering how many memories I have of touring Australia, it’s really odd to think about it like that.”

The rescheduled tour will still take in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth with support from RVG.
