EXCLUSIVE: Sydney Venue Notes To Reopen With Live Music

The Notes Live venue in Enmore, Sydney, will return to the live music scene with a buyer set to resurrect the intimate room.

The venue, which featured sit-down dinner seating surrounded by standing room, shut its doors Saturday 19 January with a statement at the time admitting, “It is with great sadness that it looks like the venue will not be reopening in the near future.”

Interested parties have since been in discussions to take over the venue and today a source close to those negotiations confirmed to theMusic.com.au that a new proprietor has been found and they will be continuing with live music.

The new owners are now in the process of working through counter licences, liquor licences and development applications.

As-yet-unnamed, they hope to have a full announcement “sooner rather than later”, but the process could take up to six months. Steve Griffiths and Geoff Trio are set to remain as the venue's agents.

Shows previously planned for the venue had been moved to venues elsewhere around the city, including The Bridge Hotel in Rozelle. Following on from this initial splash of live music The Bridge will also be expanding to a regular roster of live music through Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

Sydney venues have been in the headlines this week with the reported financial issues surrounding the Annandale Hotel and the first meeting of Lord Mayor Clover Moore's Live Music Taskforce.
