With the Fortitude Music Hall set to officially launch this month, Brisbane is scoring yet another new live music venue.

The Music can exclusively reveal The Outpost, which will be based inside the Fortitude Music Hall, will open next month with a string of big names confirmed to perform throughout August including Major Leagues, Greta Stanley, Osaka Punch, Sweater Curse and Bullhorn.

Speaking to The Music, The Outpost head booker Mark Gibbons described the venue as "a blend of New York whisky bar, LA rock club."

"The Outpost has been designed to be a destination venue when there’s main room shows on, where we can run afterparties, meet and greets with artists, late night ticketed events, and most importantly when the main room is inactive," he said.

"There’s been a real priority placed on giving music fans and Valley frequenters a consistent connectivity with the whole venue. It’s not just about music specifically.

"From what I’ve learned since relocating to Brisbane is that the music scene and identities within it are a close knit bunch, and have been craving a new space to develop and hone new projects, but also celebrate the success stories. Hopefully The Outpost and The Fortitude Music Hall can accomplish that."

The 300-capacity room's name also stems from the famous Brisbane dive bar of the same name which venue director John Collins has very fond memories of.

“My first ever gig was at The Outpost. I was 16 and was hyper-aware to a new world opening up to me," Collins said.

"However, this Outpost is no dive bar. The team have created a stunning space that equally accommodates after work cocktails, pre-dinner drinks, and will nurture artists, offering them a springboard onto the Fortitude stage in tours to come.

"We hope it will have the same impact on patrons as its namesake had on me.”

The Outpost will officially launch on Thursday 1 August with performance from Major Leagues, Greta Stanley, Married Man & Colt.
