They now share a label with Sydney's DMA's

Melbourne-based electronic duo Friendships have penned a deal with New York record label Mermaid Avenue.

The audio/visual duo, whose sound fuses together everything from dance to bass to hip hop, join a roster that is already home to a number of buzz acts including Sydney trio DMA's and Brooklyn singer-songwriter Tei Shi. Mermaid Avenue is an imprint of indie label heavyweight Mom + Pop Records.

The pair have also revealed that they have a new single out next week, titled When I Feel Like Killing, I Murder. Group member Nic Brown called the single, "a sonic representation of an urban animal" so we're intrigued to hear it when it finally drops.

Over the course of their career, Friendships have performed with the likes of Erykah Badu, Cashmere Cat, Thundercat and RL Grime.
