The post-BIGSOUND buzz has paid off nicely for the band of Melburnians
They were one of the most buzzed-about bands at last month's BIGSOUND showcase in Brisbane, and now eclectic Melbourne-based ensemble Mangelwurzel have capitalised on their newly insurgent momentum by cementing a deal with venerated bookers the 123 Agency.
The six-piece's new deal comes ahead of their debut LP, Gary, due out early next year, but that doesn't mean you won't be seeing the band — whose frontwoman, Cosima Jaala, also spends her time crushing it with namesake outfit JAALA — around the traps in the interim; in fact, they'll be taking to the stage at next month's Kennedys Creek Music Festival (tickets available now) if you're chomping at the bit for a bit of live Mangelwurzel madness in your immediate future. And why not? — They've spent a considerable amount of time honing those live chops alongside esteemed contemporaries such as POND, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Canadian outfit The Courtneys and US ensemble Tonstartssbandht.
You can also whet your appetite by giving new single Fishy Fry a spin below; it's taken from Gary and marks the first proper taste of the impending full-length, so savour it well.
