John Watson – who has helped guide the careers of Gotye, Silverchair and Cold Chisel – has signed New South Wales folk singer and songwriter Dustin Tebbutt on a management deal with Eleven Music.

Today Watson confirmed the deal – which has not been officially announced – to theMusic.com.au and said that they see Tebbutt as a “very gifted artist with a long-term career ahead of him. We're looking forward to being part of that.”

Tebbutt has recently been attracting attention of triple j and various other tastemakers with his track Breach, which is the title track of an EP which will be released later this year. The songwriter spent two years living, writing and recording and Sweden as has a distinct Scandinavian tinge to his sparse and patient songs.

Throughout October Tebbutt will be the opening support for Boy & Bear's run of shows, which also features Battleships on the bill. Both of those artists are booked through Select Music, but Tebbutt doesn't currently list a booking agent.

The John Watson Management roster also includes Birds Of Tokyo, Missy Higgins, Pete Murray and Katy Steele. Cold Chisel are co-managed by new EMI boss John O'Donnell and Gotye is co-managed with Danny Rogers of Lunatic Entertainment.
