The future of The X Factor Australia has been up in the air for some time and following a hugely-lacklustre series finale, it has been widely speculated that the singing competition will be axed.
Speaking to Herald Sun, The X Factor judge Guy Sebastian says that isn't a big surprise.
"The ratings were a huge struggle, but I think there was a lot against us," the Aussie singer said.
"[The season] was brutally short. We said goodbye to four people in one episode. I mean, come on. And it wasn't the right chemistry on the panel."
Sebastian has called for the show to be given a massive overhaul, suggesting the current format is "manufactured television".
"It's time to evolve the show. People aren't stupid," he said.
"They know manufactured television, and they know when something has run its course and people are clutching at straws."
Sebastian also seemingly confirmed rumours that he and fellow judge, Adam Lambert, didn't get on well with Iggy Azalea, claiming the Aussie rapper wasn't "invested" in the show.
"She's a bit of a weirdo. I don’t really get Iggy," Sebastian said.
"You've got to be invested and she didn't turn up."
Speaking to The Music last week, TV Tonight's David Knox said the poor ratings from the latest season could ensure The X Factor doesn’t return next year.
"Given the high costs for the show I can't see Seven going with a renewal in 2017 and their decision to discontinue Dancing With The Stars highlights demonstrates they won't be swayed by sentiment," Knox said.
