AVERT YOUR EYES, CHILDREN
Celebrated troubadour Marlon Williams heading full-steam towards 2016, kicking off his extensive current Aussie tour at Maroochydore's Sol Bar last night. With a ream of shows to go between now and his final performances of the year at the Barossa Valley and Kings Park A Day On The Green events, now seems as fitting a time as any for the ARIA Award nominee to unveil — quite literally — a new clip for rollicking cut Hello Miss Lonesome, taken from his acclaimed self-titled debut full-length.
The clip itself, directed by Damien Shatford with choreography from Alexander Holloway, is a stunning piece of work, following Williams through violence and intimacy alike — The Fader described it as "a cross between a Sia video and a bar fight", and they're absolutely on the money with that comparison — as the ambiguous characters around the on-screen troubadour figuratively and literally strip him down to his most vulnerable, naked form. Like, seriously naked. "Dong alert" naked. Not that that should be the focus of things, Williams says.
"The nudity is incidental, I think, and I like that it plays into the naturalness of the theatre," he said in a statement. "I'm being stripped down by these characters — these different parts of my psyche — and being left alone by myself."

Away from the clip, things couldn't be more different — Williams will be veritably surrounded by adoring fans over the next month and a bit through his string of Aussie shows before a brief rest period ahead of turning his attention to the rest of the world ahead of his album's wide release via Dead Oceans in February next year. He'll be back before long, though, with local commitments already lined up from late February through mid-March on shores Down Under.
