Superstar rapper Eminem has scored the number one record in this week's ARIA Albums Chart despite only releasing The Marshall Mathers LP2 on Tuesday.

Slim Shady held out stiff competition from last week's number one Katy Perry and her Prism album, which dropped down to two, while the other big debut of the week, Arcade Fire managed the number three spot with Reflektor. Lorde's Pure Heroine maintained its consistency around the top, coming in at four this week.

Two other internationals broke the top ten. Pop-rock songstress Avril Lavigne came in a seven with Avril Lavigne, with violinist and conductor Andre Rieu scored the number ten spot with his new release Andre Rieu Celebrates ABBA/Music Of The Night. Future headliner Tinie Tempah scored the 22nd placing with his Demonstration.

Local electronic outfit Cut Copy and their latest effort Free Your Mind nabbed number 20 in the chart, plus fellow Victorian native Gossling came in at 37 with her debut LP Harvest Of Gold.

And it appears all the hype surrounding M.I.A.'s long-awaited album Matangi has fallen short with Aussie fans. The LP debuted at 99 this week.

Reality TV talent quest winner Dani Im and her track Alive were displaced from the top spot in this week's ARIA Singles Chart by fellow X-Factor alum Taylor Henderson. His song Borrow My Heart pushed I'm's single down to four. Eminem's latest collaboration with Rihanna, The Monster jumped from 14 to two in the space of a week, while Perry's Roar stayed strong at three.

Two more X-factor contestants made quite impressive debuts. Jae Waetford's Your Eyes and Third D3gree's Different Kind Of Love came in at six and 22 respectively. US rapper Lupe Fiasco found himself at 23rd this week with his new song featuring Brit crooner Ed Sheeran, Old School Love.

Other new entries came in the way of Flo Rida's How I Feel at 26, Lady Gaga's Dope at 34 and recent Aus tourists Imagine Dragons in at 35 with Demons.
