Hey there! Gabe Gleeson here, I'm the online editor at Purple Sneakers. Here are my favourite 10 tracks of 2013...

Hey there! Gabe Gleeson here, I'm the online editor at PURPLE SNEAKERS. The entire team and I have had heaps of fun in 2013 bringing you what we feel to be unique club music of the highest quality (whether that be producers or live acts) from Australia and around the world.

We look forward to bringing you the same quality content in 2014, stay tuned... we've got some exciting stuff planned.

Of the mountains of tracks we've featured throughout the last year, I've come up with my 10 absolute favourites. These might not be the biggest records of the past 12 months in terms of sales or plays, however each of these had a certain quality that left me humming their tune long after an editorial had been posted on our site.

Enjoy!!

MIGUEL ‘Do You…’ (CASHMERE CAT Remix)

'Oslo-based Norwegian bass-head Magnus August Høiberg is best known under his current stage name, CASHMERE CAT redefining the game for turntablists and remixers, earning the respect of big name acts like Diplo and helping to pioneer the increasingly popular crossover between hip hop and classical music.'

FITZROY ‘Philosophy’

'Paris is not the first place you think of for Jazz inspired, hip hop infused electronic music but alongside it’s classic dance scene there has been a rise in producer collectives like we’ve seen in the US and Canada. FITZROY is one such artist, as part of the Cosmonostro record label, which set up only earlier this year.'

CHORDASHIAN ‘Keep On’

'To get the formalities out of the way early, Chordashian are a couple of dudes called Michael Banks and Felix Feygin based in Brooklyn. They are creating some wild space dance tunes and it seems that their new cut, ‘Keep On’ is no exception to this.'

CHROME SPARKS ‘Lookin At Me’

'Lookin At Me is a huge rushing explosion of freaky rhythms and sounds congealing into a tune that feels like a hip-hop track staggering between the realms of footwork at every bar. Snare rushes and askewed bass flourishes dominate the tune whilst a daunting vocal sample walks all over the track in disjointed syncopated rhythms.'

PERSEUS ‘Shadow Of The Beast’

'It’s been a very long time since we’ve heard anything from French Express head honcho PERSEUS. The man left us with his track ‘Love In Zanzibar’ and then without any notice, kind of just dropped off the map.'

AIRWOLF ‘Hanging On’

'Australian multi-talented DJ/producer/photographer/CANT SAY regular AIRWOLF has dropped the club mix of his fresh new single ‘Hanging On’. It’s huge.'

SAGE THE GEMINI & IAMSU! ‘Gas Pedal’ (SALVA Remix)

'If you were lucky enough to catch SALVA on his recent Operatives/Astral People supported Australian tour, you would’ve realised that the US based producer is no stranger to delivering bass tunes that stem from hip-hop roots. So you won’t be surprised to hear that his latest remix, is all that and more.'

ANNA LUNOE ‘Breathe’

'It’s been a massive 12 months for our own house princess, ANNA LUNOE. After notching up a couple of massive collaborations with Flume, Touch Sensitive and AC Slater, she paraded up and down the country smashing out huge club shows (including a stop at CANT SAY) and a very huge North American tour supporting THE WEEKND.'

THE PREATURES ‘Is This How You Feel?’ (CLASSIXX Remix)

'CLASSIXX and THE PREATURES, two totally different sides of the musical spectrum have come together for a very special remix that is proving to be quite the party starter.'

SAFIA ‘Listen To Soul, Listen To Blues’

'Canberra three piece SAFIA have been pretty lucky since forming in only the middle of 2012. They’ve filled the Triple J Unearthed slot for last year’s Groovin’ The Moo, have supported the likes of many great outfits such as The PresetsThe Aston ShuffleClubfeet and Catcall and have been able to release a bunch of singles and remixes.'
