Brisbane trio Dune Rats have announced a massive pre-Splendour In The Grass jaunt to some of the country's less-visited locales as part of their 'Fuck Yeah Ledge Yew!' tour, kicking off this June.

The boys get under way in Newcastle with an outing at The Cambridge on Friday 9 June and, over the course of almost a month, hit stages on the Central Coast, in Wollongong, Ballarat, Geelong, Frankston, Dunsborough, Bunbury, Hobart, Townsville and Airlie Beach before their date at North Byron Parklands in late July.

The news comes concurrent with the release of the video for new single Braindead, which is billed as a "spiritual successor" to their previous cut, Scott Green, takes the band to the middle of a sprawling weed field replete with skateboard ramp in the centre of it.

Created in collaboration with videographer Jonathan Salfield (of Byron Bay-based Afends), the clip features guest skateboarders Robert McAllister, Daniel Jones, Dylan Monk, Cameron Markin and Charles Fester tearing it up as the band crank out their earworm of a tune, the third single to come from their recent ARIA #1 album, The Kids Will Know It's Bullshit.

“It was epic to head out to the middle of nowhere with the Afends crew and set up a ramp inside a massive weed field," the band said in a statement. "Then just drank beers and had a sick arvo.

"Braindead started out in our mate Grudge’s shed on the south coast in Mandurah," they said of the track. "We jammed it at a few rehearsals then at all the soundchecks on tour with FIDLAR in the USA. That’s where Dunies and Zac [Carper] started shaping not only that song but the sound of the album. It’s hard for us to say what any track is about because we’ve always written songs that can be taken heaps of different ways; it all comes down to the person listening to it."

No doubt it'll be among the rotation when the band set off for their upcoming string of shows, so if you're into it be sure to get along.

Dune Rats will be joined on the run by stalwart Perth outfit Tired Lion and Rockhampton's Pandamic.
