UK post-punk meets art-rock outfit Dry Cleaning will make their long-awaited return to Australia and New Zealand this year, today announcing tour dates in both countries.

Last in the region in December 2022 – promoting their album Stumpwork – this year’s tour will find the band playing tracks from their critically acclaimed new album, Secret Love.

This May and June, Dry Cleaning will return Down Under for festival dates and a run of headline shows. The tour includes festival stops at Sydney’s Vivid LIVE at the Sydney Opera House on Friday, 29 May, and Melbourne’s RISING at the Forum on Saturday, 30 May.

In addition to those shows, the band will perform a headline show at Ballarat’s Civic Hall on Sunday, 7 June. And before that show takes place, they’ll appear in New Zealand, playing at Wellington’s Meow Nui on Tuesday, 2 June, and Strange Universe at Auckland’s Hollywood Avondale on Wednesday, 3 June.

You can find ticketing information for the festival stops on the Vivid LIVE and RISING websites. For the headline shows, MG Live pre-sale tickets will be available on Friday, 13 March, at 12 pm local time – register here for access. The general sale opens on Monday, 16 March, at 12 pm local time via the MG Live website.

The band’s new album, Secret Love, was released in January. Produced by Cate Le Bon, Secret Love marks the follow-up to 2021’s New Long Leg and 2022’s Stumpwork.

Together, singer Florence Shaw, guitarist Tom Dowse, drummer Nick Buxton and bassist Lewis Maynard pushed their reputation as South London’s most exciting post-punk band by embracing avant-garde.

Reviewing Dry Cleaning’s first of two sold-out Meredith Music Festival sideshows at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel, The Music’s Andy Hazel remarked that they “feel like no other band you’ve seen.”

Hazel added, “Front-loaded with their faster songs - Gary AshbyViking Hair and Scratchcard Lanyard - Dry Cleaning’s set is a thrilling mix of old and new. The crowd sang along with the extremely wordy Her HippoLeafy and No Decent Shoes for Rain, which is no small thing.”
