Troy Mutton will take over from Aarom Wilson
Drum Media Perth, part of the Street Press Australia (publishers of theMusic.com.au) stable, has appointed Troy Mutton as the magazine's new Editor with current Editor Aarom Wilson accepting a role with WAM, the peak body of the Western Australia music industry.
In a note today, Wilson said, “It's been six years, approximately 10,000 coffees and way too many beer-soaked, fantastic shows to remember since Drum Media Perth first set sail, and the pleasure to have helped steer such a brilliant ship has been one of the most fulfilling rides of my life.
“With Street Press Australia, theMusic.com.au and Drum Media Perth at such exciting stages of their development, leaving the Editor's post at Drum has been a tough decision. It's time for a change of sleeping habits though, and I can think of no better move than starting a new journey at WAM, an organization that shares with Street Press Australia precisely the same commitment to passionately supporting music at a grassroots level.
“Drum is a product I'm ridiculously proud of, so I won't be walking away from it completely but am now looking forward to writing for WA's most inspiring print publication. Having the best editorial team around, Drum's been left in safe hands.”

Incoming editor Troy Mutton said, “I'm incredibly grateful to Street Press Australia to be offered the position of Drum Media Perth Editor and of course have accepted with nervous excitement, for the simple reason that in the past couple of years as Assistant Editor I've witnessed first hand how much Aarom Wilson has done for not just the magazine but local music in general.
“I only hope that in my time as Assistant I've been able to absorb enough to keep this magazine at the high quality and standard that has been maintained by Aarom in his time as Editor.
“With the rise of theMusic.com.au it's a really exciting time to be part of Drum Media and Street Press Australia. It's a challenge I am eternally grateful for even getting to take on, and wholly excited about tackling going forward.”
