Young Henry's and Vic On The Park are teaming up for charity
The annual Sydney Community Cup is swiftly approaching and, to get a nice head start on matching last year's $5000 in funds raised for sports and arts charity Reclink, Young Henry's and Vic On The Park are teaming up with the crew for a series of free gigs this and next month.
"But The Music," you ask, not unreasonably, "if they're free gigs, how will this raise money for a worthwhile cause?" Good question, our impatient friend! To help out, you'll have to drink up — in moderation — as Young Henry's and the Vic will be offering a cut of every Young Henry's drink sold at each of the four free gigs in the lead-up to the Cup.
To that end, you can get yourself along to entertainment on tap on Friday 15 July for a performance from Dylan Tai; 22 July for The Escapes and Rackett; 5 August for Bow Campbell & Davis Claymore (Front End Loader) and Leah Flanagan; and 12 August for the sure-to-be-so-bad-it'll-be-wonderful Western Walers (musicians, managers, DJs) v Sydney Sailors (music media) Open Mic Battle, worth it for the spectacle alone.
If you're feeling particularly saucy, there's also a paid gig in support of the Cup being held at the Newtown Social Club on 29 July, featuring evergreen favourites the Hard Ons with special guests War Hawk. Tickets for that show will set you back $15 and are available now. There will also be a raffle for a sweet-as-balls exclusive Hard Ons prize pack, as well as prizes at the door.
