Northern California hardcore heroes DRAIN have announced their highly-anticipated second album, Living Proof, due for release on 5 May via Epitaph. DRAIN were just in Australia with Comeback Kid, ripping the roofs from venues with no barriers installed, keeping with the spirit of DIY stages and hardcore music.
The announcement of Living Proof arrives with a single, Evil Finds Light, where the music video has a sense of humour to keep up with the thunderous riffs, guttural vocals, and chunky bass guitar. "While DRAIN channels a rule-free chaos/party vibe through our live show, I am actually somewhat of a stress case haha," vocalist Sammy Ciaramitaro commented.
"I get pretty wound up sometimes and so lyrically, I just tried to tap into those feelings and paint a picture of the way I feel and the way that stress can sometimes make me see my world a little bit different than it actually is. While the song is completed, managing the stress is still a work in progress."
The album was produced by longtime friend and multi-instrumentalist Taylor Young (God’s Hate, Suicide Silence) and mixed by John Markson (Drug Church, Koyo). Living Proof promises to be relatable and catchy, as well as invite listeners to the most memorable party they could imagine.
"I hope with this record that when someone hears it, it gives them hope,” Ciaramitaro continues. "This is the soundtrack of perseverance and people overcoming the naysayers in their world and inside themselves. I can’t wait to play these songs and hear a room full of people singing back to us. We’re what the title says, the Living Proof."
Comeback Kid's Andrew Neufeld said about DRAIN in a statement, "3 years after our New Year's 2020 Aussie shows, we finally have the opportunity to come overseas and bring one of HC's most exciting bands, DRAIN, with us for their first time ever down under! I've been assured that barricades won't be in play, and we are expecting to pop off '23 with a bang and usher in a new year for the Australian punk and hardcore scene. See you all soon!"
