More Dr Dre More Dr Dre

In the same week that two women who were assaulted by rap mogul Dr Dre in the early '90s spoke out about their exclusion from the newly-released NWA biopic, Straight Outta Compton, it has been revealed that the incident with journalist Dee Barnes was in fact written in the original screenplay.

The incident which took place in 1991, saw Dre attack Barnes at a record release party following a story that Barnes had written which portrayed the seminal hip hop group in a negative light.

According to the LA Times, it was set to feature in the film but was later omitted due to time restraints.

Below shows, as per the original script, shows the scene was intended to play out which begins with the fictional Dre spotting Barnes at the party, "eyes glazed, drunk, with an edge of nastiness, contempt".

"Saw that [expletive] you did with Cube. Really had you under his spell, huh? Ate up everything he said. Let him diss us. Sell us out," Dre's character says.

"I just let him tell his story," Barnes replies, "That's what I do. It's my job."

"I thought we were cool, you and me," Dre responds."But you don't give a [expletive]. You just wanna laugh at N.W.A, make us all look like fools."

As the conversation gets more heated, Barnes throws a drink in Dre's face, which results in Dre "flinging her around like a rag-doll, while she screams, cries, begs for him to stop."

As it turns out, the scene was one of many that was taken out of the film by director F Gary Gary, as the film's original cut was three and a half hours long.

Co-producer of the film and NWA member Ice Cube has also been quoted as saying that there are so many stories they could use that there could easily be "five different NWA movies."

Meanwhile the film has received critical acclaim from fans and critics, as well as being a box-office hit

Straight Outta Compton will be released in Australian cinemas on 27 August.
