Dr Colossus Sign Booking Deal With The Harbour Agency

Melbourne-bred duo Dr Colossus have made history by becoming the first Simpsons-themed doom band — well, first doom band in general — to be welcomed to the burgeoning roster of the stalwart Harbour Agency in an exclusive deal to handle all the act's bookings.

The deal arrives at an opportune moment for the pair of Springfield-philes — individually, guitarist/vocalist 'Dr Jon' and drummer 'Dr Johnston' — who have been enjoying a solid wave of momentum off the back of their tremendous 2014 concept EP, IV, which was based entirely on the show's fourth season (undeniably one of the entire series' absolute all-time best runs). The work garnered them considerable buzz at home and abroad on the blogosphere and beyond, even going so far as to find themselves on the stage at the US' esteemed Cherry Rock Festival earlier this year, as well as in a support slot for Cherry Rock bill-mates Beastwars when they recently performed in Melbourne.

Not content to milk IV till the end of time, however, the band have since followed that up with a new live two-track 7", Shut Up & Eat Your Pinecone!/Whack Sabbath, which dropped back in May — it's available for purchase and download at the duo's Bandcamp store.

"We were stoked when [agent] Luke [Morton] at Harbour gave us a call," the band wrote in a statement celebrating the news. "As we are both either watching inhumane amounts of The Simpsons or falling asleep to Sabbath records, it suits us extremely well to have someone take over our gig bookings.

"Little does Luke know that in no way will this make us work any harder or take our music any more seriously — but it will mean we are playing the shows we want to, to the people we want to!"
