Dominic Fike Takes On 'South Park' Theme For 'Like A Version'

"It feels optimistic when the episode starts, and it’s funny throughout... and then it ends abruptly, and Primus starts. Which is, I think, how I think my life will go," Fike explained.

Dominic Fike has officially recorded the shortest cover on triple j’s Like A Version, taking on PrimusSouth Park Theme.

For under 30 seconds, the American singer and musician (and Euphoria star) and his band ripped through the South Park Theme, speedy guitars accompanied by Fike singing “I’m goin’ down to South Park/ gonna have myself a time.”

In addition to paying tribute to Primus and South Park, Fike performed a longer cover by putting his own spin on Cody ChesnuTT’s Boylife In America. He also performed his own song, Epilogue.

In a behind-the-scenes interview, Fike discussed his choice to cover the South Park Theme, sharing that he loves the series and watches it every night “to go to sleep… literally every night.”

He added, “I don’t listen to it for that… When I grew up, it was like we would be outside my house. It’d be me, my friend, Max, my homie Patrick, or my little brother. And it was like, a new episode every day, so I’d be like, ‘What are we doing today?’ And I would be the guy that was like, ‘We should go here and do this.’”

Fike continued, “I like the adventure aspect [of South Park]. I like it because they have big imaginations and everything’s like a new world for them. You know, like everything’s exciting to them, which is what I like to feel like.”

“I don’t know if I’m explaining this correctly, but it feels optimistic when the episode starts, and it’s funny throughout, which is how I prefer life. And then it ends abruptly, and Primus starts. Which is, I think, how I think my life will go.”

Dominic Fike returned to Australia last month. He performed at Spilt Milk Festival alongside Kendrick Lamar, Doechii, and many others, and played massive sideshows in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane.
