Fans of Doja Cat were beyond excited when the rapper announced the forthcoming release of her fourth studio album Scarlet, featuring hit tracks like Paint The Town Red and Attention.

However, some eagle-eyed social media users have discovered that the album’s cover art — featuring a red-tinged spider — looks nearly identical to the album cover design for German metal band Chaver's upcoming record, Of Gloom.

As noted by PopCrave, both cover artworks were created by painter Dusty Ray from a design he made in 2018, according to one of Ray's 2022 posts.

Ray also Doja’s cover on August 29 — and, coincidentally, both albums are set to be released on September 22.

Chaver wrote upon unveiling their art back in July, “The striking cover art, masterfully crafted by Dusty Ray @sloppjockey_ert (who has been with us since our first album), serves as a captivating contrast to the album's intense music, setting the stage for a trip to a place of pain.”

After the comparisons between both covers came to light, Chaver fans left some cheeky comments on the band’s Instagram, with one fan writing, "Make a Doja shirt”.

"Dusty got some 'splainin' to do," another person commented.

It's unknown whether Doja Cat was aware that the band were using one of Dusty Ray's spider illustrations for their cover, however, she has previously spoken out about her interest in heavier music genres.

"I feel like we have enough pop-punk artists right now. And if there needs to be more, then let there be more, but I don't think I'm the one to do it," she told Variety.

"I want to explore more of a raw, unfiltered, hardcore punk sort of thing. It's just something that I'm doing for my own personal fun — getting some drummers and guitarists together. And I don't even know if that's gonna make it out there."

Dusty Ray, Chaver, and Doja Cat have not yet commented on the album covers at this time.
