DISCOVERY Feat. Pear Shape & More

So surely by now you all know that we’re back in the Sydney clubbing business as DISCOVERY - come on, we’re coming into our third week now! We’re looking to back up the massive first two weeks that featured Step Panther, Bored Nothing, Frames and more with another huge one. And we’re pretty sure we have that act – PEAR SHAPE.

Oh yes, this week DISCOVERY is handing over the stage at BRIGHTON UP BAR to Sydney locals and Garage Pop upstarts, Pear Shape. Their sound is playful, but each song offers more than just the fun poppy layer on top. They have real substance in their creations and we know that they can bring the party to the bandroom.

Lead singer and guitarist Tom Riordan wrote Pear Shape's songs in his flat, and then collaborated with his virtuosic musician friends in the studio. Drummer Josh Bush (Bridezilla) and brother guitarists Jack and Tim Ellwood (Indigo Rising) form a consummate sonic backbone to these honest, catchy pop songs.

Having a strong focus is on catchy melodies, diary-entry lyrics and story-telling performances. These creations are complimented by Tom Riordan’s unique voice that lends itself to harmonies with the rest of his bandmates. Having played with the likes of Jinja Safari, Wu Lyf, Husky and Pluto Jonez in their budding career and with their debut EP picking up some serious hype across the nation, this fruit is ripe for the pickin’.

But the fun doesn’t stop there, so make sure you plan to be in it for the long haul. Supporting the band will be a handful of our ever faithful resident DJs.

Just to remind you, that’s a rotating lineup featuring Indie Disco guy LANCELOT (coming off the back of a massive tour with Goldroom), Moomba/Trap aficionado SPENDA C, genre-hopping young gun RANDALL STAGG, CHRIS ‘EMOH’ EMERSON of What So Not fame, and current NSW DMC champion turntablist DJ CLOCKWERK.

And as always, it’s being hosted by notorious party dudes PhDJ and Zwelli - all in a joint not big enough to swing your proverbial cat in.
