Dinosaur Jr Add Melbourne Date To Australian Tour

Dinosaur Jr’s upcoming Australian tour has just expanded, with the influential American indie rockers adding a date at Northcote Theatre in Melbourne (Naarm).

The new show tallies the Dinosaur Jr and solo J Mascis concerts in Australia and New Zealand to nine dates. With the additional gig, Dinosaur Jr’s tour now begins at the Northcote Theatre on Friday, 16 February, before the band headlines the second Tent Pole Festival in Geelong (Djilang).

From there, Dinosaur Jr will perform a sold-out show at Sydney’s (Eora) Enmore Theatre before heading to Brisbane (Meanjin) for a show at The Tivoli, which is down to final tickets.

The tour continues in Adelaide (Kaurna) at the Hindley Street Music Hall and concludes in Perth (Boorloo) at the Astor Theatre, which is also down to final tickets. They wrap up the tour in New Zealand.

On the impending Australian headlining shows, Dinosaur Jr. are being supported by Melbourne power-trio Stepmother, whose current frontman, Graham Clise, also plays guitar in Mascis’ stoner-metal side-project Witch.

Dinosaur Jr are touring Australia in celebration of the 30th anniversary of their fifth album, Where You Been. The only album between 1988’s Bug and 2007’s Beyond to be recorded with a full band, Where You Been sold 263,000 units in the US alone following its February 1993 release.
