Castlemaine, Victoria's D.D Dumbo has signed an international label deal with world renowned indie imprint 4AD.
Real name Oliver Hugh Perry, the deal covers the world excluding Australia and New Zealand and he joins a roster that includes Bon Iver, Future Islands and Tune-Yards. Other Australian bands that have graced the roster include The Birthday Party, Wolf & Cub, Dead Can Dance and Rowland S Howard.
Co-managed by Bossy Music's Claire Collins and Lunatic Entertainment's Danny Rogers, Perry won the $10,000 Mushroom Music Publishing Recording Grant earlier this year. Touted as one of 2014's most promising young new artists – in no small part thanks to his distinctive voice – he has upcoming support slots with new label-mate Tune-Yards around Splendour In The Grass, which he will be playing this year.
Currently performing solo with a 12-string guitar and loop pedal, he's also announced a run of UK dates stretching from London to Suffolk's Latitude Festival (with some Tame Impala supports mixed in) this July.
He is booked in Australia by Artist Voice's Rebecca Young.
