Premiere date announced.
His latest and final studio album, Blackstar, was intended to be his parting gift to the world, but it appears David Bowie had even more surprises for his fans before his untimely death last month, which included an agreement for the record to be brought to life in the form of an Instagram miniseries.
As shared on the official Bowie website earlier today, InstaMiniSeries (a channel dedicated to programming exclusively for Instagram) announced that the show, UNBOUND: A ★ InstaMiniSeries, will air its premiere episode this Thursday.
It will mark the first of 16 shows, with each episode to screen each Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday following the premiere.
A statement posted to the InstaMiniSeries Instagram revealed that the team were given exclusive access to the album last year to commence production on the show.

"Completed in December 2015, UNBOUND: A★InstaMiniSeries takes the audience on a journey of evocative images inspired by the moods suggested in the album’s music, lyrics and artwork," the post reads.
"Each episode of the series is sure to capture the imaginations of all who experience it and will undoubtedly lead to endless speculation and discussion of meaning, metaphor and intention."
Commenting on the series, InstaMiniSeries Founder and Executive Producer Nikki Borges, said, "David Bowie has always been about reinvention over repetition."
"Remarkably honest and passionate in his work, his innovations have influenced our own work as we transform a social media platform into a creative outlet. We are grateful to have the opportunity to participate with the chameleonic rock icon and honored to be entrusted with interpreting his art."

The series comes on the back of Blackstar achieving phenomenal success on music charts around the world, which included scoring the top spot in a number of countries including Australia and the UK, as well as his first-ever #1 in the US.
