There's arguably no doubt that you've heard the news that broke earlier this evening; David Bowie had passed away at age 69.

Iconic and respected musician David Bowie had passed away at age 69.

The star was diagnosed with cancer over 18 months ago, and sadly lost his battle over this past weekend. A brief status was posted through his social media, informing his fans of the British singer's passing.

""January 10 2016 - David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief."

David Bowie, born David Robert Jones in 1947, had by far one of the biggest and longest-running musical careers in the pop world. His first album was his self-titled record back in 1967, and his most recent album was 'Blackstar' (his 26th record to date!), which was released on January 8th, a mere two days before his death.

He was a multi-instrumentalist and to an extent, he was a musical prodigy of sorts. As expected, the world has since had an outpouring of support and love for the man himself.
