Linkin Park On 'From Zero' & Their Return To Australia: 'We're More Assured That This Is What We Want To Be Doing'

Davey Lane Signs With Premier Artists Ahead Of Second Album Release

'I'm Gonna Burn Out Bright' will land in mid-August

Venerated Australian singer-songwriter and guitarist Davey Lane has joined up with renowned agency Premier Artists ahead of the release of his second studio full-length, I'm Gonna Burn Out Bright, next month.

The You Am I guitarist and seasoned performer has complemented the news of his new deal with the release of the video for fresh single Taurus All Apart, which he self-describes as "a well-worn tale of paranoia, misunderstanding and imaginary subterfuge — and the fallout that comes with it". So, cheery stuff (no seriously, the tune is actually pretty upbeat despite the darkened themes).

"I ham-fistedly hammered out one chord for the verse and another for the chorus and let the bass go for a walk, as they say," he said in a statement. "It's a fun tune."

The album from which the song is taken will land on Friday 18 August via Capgun Kids/MGM Distribution. While primarily a solo album (and billed as such), the record nonetheless features guest spots from members of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Saskwatch, Dorsal Fins and GL, and Laura Jean.

As you can probably guess, it runs a bit of a gamut of sounds as a result, from folksy introspection (the sweeping, sublime This Is Hell) to synth-pop (My Apple Lady Cried) and beyond.

Lane will perform a special release-day show at The Gasometer Upstairs, in Melbourne, with support from The Girlatones. See theGuide for more information.
