And Publishing to launch at SXSW
Laneway Festival co-promoter Danny Rogers has formed a publishing company with fellow artist manager Adam Tudhope – And Publishing.
Rogers, who manages Gotye and The Temper Trap, and Tudhope, who manages Mumford & Sons, Laura Marling and Keane, will run the company with funding and administration services from the Kobalt group. Based in London and Sydney's Surry Hills, theMusic.com.au can reveal that there will be full time A&R representatives in both the UK and Australia, Thomas Child and Travis Banko respectively. Hidden Music's Los Angeles-based Justin Reeve will be the company's synchronisation manager.
Not linked with any of Rogers' other interests, the duo are hoping that their combined experience and network of contacts will make their publishing offers more attractive.
Rogers said today, “That's going to be a huge point of difference for us. There are plenty of good young managers who just need a bit of guidance and we hope our combined experience and contacts will be an attractive part of our offer.”

He added, “I'm into songs, I don't care if they're from the coolest bands on the planet, or the most mainstream stars. That's one of the common bonds Adam and I share. Another is having a varied taste in music; we aren't pigeonholed into signing just one type of artist.”
The company will be launched at an industry SXSW party, featuring performances from Vance Joy, Mitzi, Chvrches (DJ set), Half Moon Run, Jamie N Commons, Duologue and Mikhael Paskalev. Despite the showcase artists, Rogers told theMusic that the company hasn't signed anyone yet.
Tudhope said, “We're starting small, with very select signings. The focus is absolutely quality over quantity. When looking at who to sign, we'll approach it with our management heads, finding artists who are probably just starting out but who have a long-term view for their career. That's the way we've always done it with our own artists.”
The company has launched its website today and the party will take place Thursday 14 March from 12pm at The Blackheart Bar.
