Dance Music Heroes Remix 'The Crown' Theme Song

It's 'The Crown' like you've never heard it before - retro and exciting.

London club legends Faithless have unveiled their take on The Crown's theme tune, originally composed by Hans Zimmer.

Labelled a "three-minute sonic journey that harks back to the sounds of 90s' dance floors," The Crown (Faithless Remix) has scored radio plays on Radio 2's Zoe Ball Breakfast Show in the UK and a shorter music video on the YouTube channel Still Watching Netflix has appeared.

The series' fifth season is set in the 90s as the British monarchy received criticism from all corners - the media, supporters, politicians, and the Royal Family itself - as marriages dissipated in the public eye. To represent this era, the pioneering electronic music heroes Faithless were asked to remix Hans Zimmer's now-iconic theme music. In the fifth season, Australia's Elizabeth Debicki portrayed Diana, Princess Of Wales.

Faithless' Sister Bliss explained: "I could hear in my head how this mix could work around Hans Zimmer’s iconic and dramatic strings. I dug around in the vaults and found lots of sounds and samples we actually saved from the 1990s when we were making our albums. I thought, ‘these are genuinely good’, so I loaded them up for this remix of Hans Zimmer’s score."

The God Is A DJ artist continued, "We wanted this to be unapologetically Faithless and use some of the very original sounds that myself and Rollo made together."

The Music recently spoke to Aldo Arechar, a Byron Bay SAE Creative Media Institute graduate who creates scores with Hans Zimmer.

For almost four years, Arechar has worked with Hans Zimmer as part of Zimmer's team at Remote Control Productions. Arechar has contributed his audio engineering skills and experience to films like Dune, Top Gun: Maverick, and The Lion King – the latter for which Arechar was recognised by The Recording Academy. Those films were dream projects to work on, he says.

"The Lion King, I grew up with that score. When I was a kid - I still have my original copy - so having the new CD with my name, my little name, that's still there is incredible," he says with a smile. "I haven't fully grasped how it's changing my life because I've been working non-stop. Whenever I talk to people who have nothing to do with this industry or whatever, I can see that [my achievements] are very important."
