Blak Day Out returns to Brisbane’s winter music series, Open Season, for a fierce fifth edition on Friday, 24 July. Like previous years, it’s locked in an excellent line-up of First Nations talent who will perform at the Princess Theatre, with the aim of spotlighting music, culture, and community.

The 2026 edition of the festival follows last year’s sold-out event, which was home to the likes of Christine Anu, Thelma Plum, and Miss Kaninna. This year, festival organisers – led by Blak Social – welcome Dan Sultan, Beddy Rays, Becca Hatch, Jem Cassar-Daley, and Rox Lavi to the Princess Theatre stage.

Blak Social Founder Alethea Beetson has curated this year’s event. “This event is about joy, music and community, bringing people together to experience the incredible talent of Indigenous artists across genres,” Beetson commented in a statement.

“We’ve always had world-class artists in our communities. BLAK DAY OUT is about creating a platform that matches that talent and energy.”

Tickets for this year’s Blak Day Out, beginning at $29, are now available. You can secure yours here.

Dan Sultan returns to Brisbane with his formidable catalogue. He’s one of Australia’s most celebrated artists, taking home seven ARIA Awards and multiple NIMA Awards, and he’s topped the charts.

Sultan has headlined venues as iconic as the Sydney Opera House Forecourt and shared stages with artists as legendary as Bruce Springsteen and Midnight Oil. With new music with acclaimed producer Guy Chambers on the way, his performance at Blak Day Out will be something special.

Meanwhile, Beddy Rays are heading to the festival following the release of their ARIA #1 album Do What Ya Wanna, Becca Hatch plays off the back of her energetic new single, Garden (Bang Goes the Drum), Jem Cassar-Daley performs following her Song of the Year win at the 2026 Queensland Music Awards (for Kiss Me Like You’re Leaving), and Rox Lavi joins the line-up after dropping his debut EP, Blah Blah About The Blah Blah, in October.
