Band member Robert Görl confirmed Lopez' passing today.
Co-founder of German electronic punk act DAF (Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft), Gabriel "Gabi" Delgado-López has passed away at the age of 61.
A statement was issued on DAF's Facebook page earlier this morning after band member Robert Görl confirmed the news. A cause of death is yet to be confirmed.
"The music scene loses one of its... richest musicians and most creative minds," the statement reads.
Though originally forming in 1978, DAF only embarked on their debut tour of Australia in November last year as the headliners of Melbourne Music Week.

"We are both radical artists, yeah? And because we are very, very different persons – in spirit, our way of living, in everything – we sometimes have serious difficulties coming together," Delgado-López told The Music ahead of the tour.
"Sometimes everything's fine, and sometimes we have very different points of view – of music, lyrics – and those times we can't come together and we are not working together.
"We'd rather really split up and have a radical cut than pretend we are still doing something together when we are not... When DAF goes to the studio, Robert and me, we don't compromise – never. Never. Everything must be approved by both of us."
