Custard Announce New Album & Tour With The Fauves

It’s a good time to be a fan of Aussie rockers Custard, with the band announcing a new album, dropping a new single, and sharing tour dates for this November and December.

On Friday, 11 October, Custard will unveil their new album, Suburban Curtains. You can pre-order physical editions of the album here or pre-save it here and check out the single Molecules Colliding below.

An energetic, wacky, fun track, Molecules Colliding immediately feels like classic Custard. The band said of the new single:

This is a love song. A long human relationship in three inscrutable verses and one equivocating bridge. Luckily the chorus is empowering in its embrace of contrasts of scale, and recognition of the echoes and repetition within physics and humanity. The finale is open ended, lyrically anticipatory and musically truncated. A study in contradiction and reflection.

For the tour, Custard will be joined by special guests The Fauves and The Stress Of Leisure, the latter of which will only appear on selected dates. As Custard noted on social media, both The Fauves and The Stress Of Leisure will release new albums this year.

An extensive tour that involves intimate venues, Custard and friends begin the run at Sydney’s Crowbar on Saturday, 9 November, and play shows until Saturday, 21 December, at Brisbane’s The Princess. Tickets are on sale now—you can find more information on purchasing tickets here.

Custard, a 90s favourite, reformed in 2009 and have released another four albums since getting back together. In 2015, the band dropped their first album since 1999’s Loverama with Come Back, All is Forgiven. The Common Touch followed in 2017, followed by The Band Live In The Basement in 2018, and Respect All Lifeforms in 2020.
