More Crowded House More Crowded House

Crowded House is seeking footage from journalists and longtime fans to feature in a “definitive” documentary.

As revealed in a social media post on Monday (14 July), the Australian-New Zealand rock band is looking for rare video or audio of its original members, Neil Finn, Paul Hester, and Nick Seymour. Specifically, the band is after “unique, unseen journalist or fan recorded material” that displays a different side of Crowded House.

The band is also seeking old audio and footage from interviews, film clips, outtakes, and more, as well as concert recordings from before 1997.

Here’s what the band shared on social media yesterday:

Calling All Crowded House Fans!

Are you a longtime fan or journalist with rare footage or audio of Crowded House and its original members—Neil Finn, Paul Hester, and Nick Seymour? Maybe you captured a backstage moment, an interesting audio or video interview, or candid footage over the years? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

We’re working on a definitive documentary about the band past and future, and are searching for unique, unseen journalist or fan recorded material—the kind of audio footage that shows a different side of Crowded House and the musicians that played with them over the years.

We’re especially keen to find old audio and footage from interviews, film rushes and outtakes, behind-the-scenes clips, and unaired gems. We are also interested in concert footage prior to 1997.

The film will be produced by Ghost Crowded House Pty Ltd and House Fumes Limited. To share your archival footage with the band, head to this Google Form and fill out some information before receiving a response about what you have on offer.

Earlier this year, a documentary was released in honour of Crowded House drummer Paul Hester, who passed away 20 years ago. The film came together thanks to the band’s official archivist, Peter Green, and Mark Goulding.

This summer, Crowded House will headline three outdoor festival events: the Red Hot Summer Tour, Legends On The Lawn, and Sounds By The River. Due to demand, extra dates have been added to the Red Hot Summer Tour. Crowded House are touring in support of their latest album, Gravity Stairs.

Meanwhile, Neil Finn appears on the new album by Sydney-based singer-songwriter Charlie Collins. Finn can be heard playing piano and bass on her song, The Last 48 Hours, which was produced by Crowded House’s frequent collaborator, Steven Schram and mixed by Tom Iansek (Big Scary, #1 Dads).
