In a statement, singer Neil Finn said about the band’s return down under: “So looking forward to getting amongst our people having practised on the Northern Hemisphere for a few months. The band will be running hot, and we can't wait to sing with you and elevate our collective spirits. Sing it if you want to be a part of Some Greater Plan.”

The multi-platinum-selling group announced the album, which is due for release on Friday, 31 May, back in February.

Gravity Stairs was made in partnership with producer Steven Schram (Paul KellySan Cisco), who watched on as Crowded House’s current line-up – Neil Finn, Nick SeymourMitchell Froom, and Finn's sons Elroy and Liam – created another set of new songs.

The album was influenced by a set of heavy stone stairs – figurative “gravity stairs” – near Finn’s favourite vacation spot that inspired him as a creator.

The singer-songwriter explained, “It's a metaphor for getting a little older and becoming aware of your own mortality, your own physicality. Things are getting a little harder, and there's more determination needed to get to the top, but there's still the same compulsion to climb them.”
