On Sunday (22 February), the winner of this year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! was revealed – with triple j Breakfast host Concetta Caristo taking home the crown and prize money.

As The Music reported last month, Caristo represented Australian music and culture alongside singer and reality TV star Deni Hines on this year’s season of the survival reality television show.

Caristo made the finale alongside Logie Award-winning actor Gary Sweet and The BachelorsLuke Bateman, Pedestrian.TV reports, following a month of Tucker Trials, drama, and the Elephant’s Graveyard.

She faced the jungle and also opened up about deeply personal experiences throughout her life, which informed the charity she’d donate to upon her win.

The winner of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! receives $100,000 in prize money for their chosen charity. For Caristo, the cash prize is going to Full Stop Australia, one of the country’s leading charities for sexual, domestic, and family violence, as well as response and recovery services.

Caristo explained the personal significance of the charity, “They’re one of the nation’s leading support services for people affected by domestic, family, and sexual violence and services like these are so important for people who are affected by violence.

“I know that personally because a service like that changed my life, my mum and my sister’s, and I plan on supporting services like this for my entire life.”

Caristo was named the host of triple j Breakfast – alongside Luka Muller – in 2024. In addition to her work as a radio presenter, she has been a stand-up comedian since 2019.

Before being named Queen of the Jungle last night, Caristo shared a post on social media about the impact of Full Stop Australia.

“No matter what happens tonight, I’m so honoured to have brought more awareness to such an incredible charity as @fullstopaustralia,” she wrote. “Meeting the women who actually do this work is something I will remember for the rest of my life. I couldn’t stop crying, because I really do believe they are guardian angels who choose to show up every day and help people in need.”

Caristo added that, going into the I’m A Celebrity… finale, she was “holding the hand of little Concetta knowing I’ve made her so proud.”
