Coloured Stone were inducted on Thursday, nearly 50 years after they formed at Koonibba Aboriginal Mission west of Ceduna, South Australia, in 1977.

Aboriginal Australian rock and reggae band Coloured Stone have been inducted into the South Australian Music Hall of Fame.
The band were inducted at The Gov on Thursday (4 July), nearly 50 years after they formed at Koonibba Aboriginal Mission west of Ceduna, South Australia, in 1977.
The trailblazing rock band led by Bunna Lawrie have released nine albums, the most recent of which, Poisoned Planet, arrived in January 2021 and follows 2015’s Dance To The Sun.
The band said about their induction, “Tonight at the Gov in Adelaide, we will celebrate the induction of Coloured Stone into the AMC SA Music Hall Of Fame with several past and present members of Coloured Stone being recognised for their contribution to the success of Bunna Lawrie and Coloured Stone over the past 4 decades. See you at The Gov tonight with the best of First Nation's music with Sonia Smith, Glenn Skuthorpe, Kutcha Edwards, Jason Lee Scott and Bunna Lawrie and Coloured Stone.”
Fortnightly National Indigenous Newspaper Koori Mail said of Coloured Stone’s induction on Facebook, “TONIGHT Coloured Stone Official have been inducted into the South Australian Music Hall of Fame, in Adelaide on Kaurna Country.
“This year marks 47 years since the band was formed, lead by the legendary Bunna Lawrie, Coloured Stone are the 24th band to be inducted into the SA Music Hall of Fame.

“Tomorrow night Bunna Lawrie will be inducted as part of the Wall of Honour Exhibition held at the Her Majesty’s Theatre in Adelaide.
“Over 20 past and present band members were acknowledged and honoured. Congratulations Coloured Stone!”
