So This Is Permanence will feature lyrics and pages from his notebooks.

The lyrics and notebooks of the great Ian Curtis are set to be published next year as So This Is Permanence, a book filled with the intensely personal writings of the legendary Joy Division frontman.

Curtis is one of the most revered figures in the world of post-punk, a figure who left us far too soon when he took his own life as a 23-year-old in 1980. At the time his band had released two stunning records in Unknown Pleasures and Closer, records which stand up to this day.

The book, published by Faber Social, will feature Curtis' lyrics as well as “previously unpublished facsimile pages of Ian's notebooks, which throw his lyrics into relief and cast light on the creative process of this influential and legendary songwriter.”

It has been edited by revered UK music writer Jon Savage and will also feature a foreword from Curtis' widow Deborah Curtis, who previously released a book about their relationship called Touching From A Distance back in 1995.
