And an announcement about new music within the next month!

More Cold Chisel More Cold Chisel

Following Cold Chisel's huge tour announcement yesterday, the band have revealed details about imminent new music.

Speaking at a press conference held in Sydney's Hordern Pavilion, Jimmy Barnes has revealed "there will be an announcement about new music within the next month".

"Definitely there will be an album by Christmas," he shared.

If true, it will be the band's first studio album since 2015's The Perfect Crime which peaked at #2 on the ARIA charts.

Barnes teased the news to The Music earlier in the year appearing on The Green Room With Neil Griffiths podcast in celebration of the release of his latest solo album, My Criminal Record.

"We started really communicating better as songwriters, so the rest of the band and I are gonna get together now and start writing and recording," Barnes said at the time.

"I think by the end of the year we could have a really great Cold Chisel record out. Everybody feels really confident."

If the album does come before Christmas, it will lead into the band's national headline run over the summer, with the first show kicking off on New Year's Eve.

They'll be stopping by Adelaide, Parramatta, Tamworth, Geelong, Fremantle, Busselton, Rutherglen, Yarra Valley, Hunter Valley, Wollongong, Canberra, Orange and Mount Cotton, with select shows as part of the popular A Day On The Green series.

The group's Parramatta concert will also be the first to occur at the new Bankwest Stadium.

"You've got to think about it, we've toured four times really since 1983," Barnes said when asked if this will be the last tour for the group.

"I couldn't see us getting around to doing this again... It's not really that likely that we'll be doing this again."

Tickets for the tour go on sale from Monday 21 October. Head to theGuide for all the info.
