The Coburg Velodrome is hosting a 'Ride-in Cinema' program every Saturday night in February, starting with this weekend's airing of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
No, you won't have to keep pedalling during the film, but guests are encouraged to ride their bikes right on into the cinema, where they'll be able to set up a sweet spot nestled among the track line of Australia's oldest concrete velodrome and enjoy food-and-beverage service from the comfort of their seat.
Organisers of the Ride-in Cinema promise "a mix of classic, cult and new-release films" over the program, the February schedule also includes E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (11 February), Blade Runner (18 February) and The Big Lebowski (25 February), all being beamed onto an eight-metre-wide screen via state-of-the-art DCP projector.
The program will also feature a rotation of food trucks as well as a custom-built bar to keep all your other senses sated.
The first instalment of Coburg Velodrome's Ride-in Cinema kicks off from 7pm this Saturday, 4 February (film from 8.45pm). Free parking is available on-site but, again, ride in if you can; otherwise, it's an eight-minute walk from Batman train station, and a 12-minute walk from Sydney Road.
