"NO Italians were harmed in the making of this clip..."

Chocolate Starfish singer Adam Thompson has shared a gift for himself and his fans to commemorate his 60th birthday: a video of himself singing – and nailing – the opera classic, Nessun Dorma.
Singing from Tuscany, Italy, Thompson posted the video to social media on Monday (27 May) and proclaimed that no Italians were harmed in the making of his video, offering apologies if his pronunciations weren’t as fluent as some might hope.
A few years ago, Thompson promised himself he would learn to sing opera so he could perform Nessun Dorma in Tuscany, Italy, on his 60th birthday.
“As a rock singer, I had to learn Italian, learn opera technique (thanks to my friend Mirusia) and finally be able to sing it,” Thompson shared in a candid caption beside the video.
“It is easy as we get older to dodge a commitment to ourselves and put it in the too hard basket. I don't want to be that person. I want to always push, challenge, even when it's scary as hell and be the best version of myself I can possibly be.”
He continued, “NO Italians were harmed in the making of this clip, and apologies if my pronunciations aren't as fluent as they could be.”

Thompson then thanked his wife, Mel, for listening to his performances and filming the video, which you can watch below.
“I am a fortunate person, and I am grateful for so much,” Thompson wrote, adding that he has a loving wife and family, good mates, “and I front the best band in Australia, Chocolate Starfish, and I can’t wait to get home and start the tour in a few weeks.
“Thank you all for being awesome fans of our band and I hope you enjoy this brief departure from my usual rock and roll voice. The only gift I want for my 60th is continued health and to see you all at our concerts this year.”
As Thompson mentioned, Chocolate Starfish will soon embark on a tour of Australia. A greatest hits tour, the band will bring their The Best Of Everything tour to 23 cities and towns across the country.
“The Best Of Everything Tour is a 2.5-hour Chocolate Starfish immersive experience that includes the albums Chocolate Starfish (self Titled), Box, Spider, Primitive, The Beautiful Addiction AND ALL our classic album series, Bat Out Of Hell, Kick and Bohemian Rhapsody,” the band wrote on social media.
In addition to the album celebrations, the band will “throw in special moments uniquely at each show to ensure this tour will be the penultimate experience in both our fans and our 30-year career.”

Dear AT Fans. I have a gift for you for my 60th Birthday today. Actually it's a gift to myself but i want to share it with all of you. A couple of years ago, I promised myself i would learn and sing Nessun Dorma in Tuscany Italy on my birthday. As a rock singer, I had to learn Italian, learn opera technique (thanks to my friend Mirusia) and finally be able to sing it. It is easy as we get older to dodge a commitment to ourselves and put it in the too hard basket. I don't want to be that person. I want to always push, challenge, even when it's scary as hell and be the best version of myself I can possibly be. NO Italians were harmed in the making of this clip, and apologies if my pronunciations aren't as fluent as they could be. Thank you to my wife Mel for being the audience of one as sung it to her, as she filmed it so beautifully. I am a fortunate person and I am grateful for so much. I have a loving wife, great family, good mates and I front the best band in Australia Chocolate Starfish, and I cant wait to get home and start the tour in a few weeks. Thank you all for being awesome fans of our band and I hope you enjoy this brief departure from my usual rock and roll voice. The only gift I want for my 60th is continued health and to see you all at our concerts this year. Love you lots...always AT
