Following her headlining set at this year's Sydney Mardi Gras, Cher has announced she will return to Australia this year for her first tour of the country in over a decade.

The music icon will return Down Under in September with arena shows confirmed in Newcastle, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Sydney.

"My visit to Sydney’s Mardi Gras reminded me how unique and beautiful Australia is," Cher said.

"It's been 13 years since I toured there so I thought 'Let's do it one more time.'"
