Fans of cult country music TV series Nashville were left devastated after hearing the news that the show had been axed by American network ABC earlier this month, but now there is hope for a fifth season as cast members and fans of the program are rallying for it to be picked up by a new network.

Confirming the news yesterday during an interview with ABCNashville star and Australian singer and actor Clare Bowen, who is currently touring through the country, confirmed that everyone involved are determined to bring the show back on air.

"I know that [show producer] Lionsgate is doing absolutely everything they can to find us a new home," Bowen said.

"I spoke to them a couple days ago and they really are hard at it."

Not only is the hashtag '#BringBackNashville' trending online, but a Change.org petition has also been launched in support of the drama series.

Over 96,000 people have signed the petition calling on ABC to reinstate Nashville, with a target of 150,000.

As well as Bowen and Lionsgate, others involved in the show who have called for support using the hashtag include cast members Charles Esten, Chris Carmack, Maisy & Lennon Stella, Sam Palladio and Nashville creator (Thelma & Louise director) Callie Khouri.
