Canyons, are back (kind of), with an alter ego (kind of) and some brand new music (completely correct).
CANYONS are full of great warehouse spirit and with that comes great responsibility - oh, and a new release. That's right, the Sydney duo are back, with an alter ego (kind of) and some brand new music (completely correct).
Yes, we understand that didn't make a whole heap of sense, but we think we can explain...

Today Canyons present 'PINK GIN', a alter ego of sorts (although the Canyons name is front and centre), a amalgamation coming from the duo’s private collection rhythm tracks. These tracks were originally designed as DJ tools for the Modular act to bridge genres while maintaining their club tendencies and ability to make a hell of a lot of movement, and they never thought they'd see the light of day. Club Mod, however, caught wind of their existence and thought differently.
So PINK GIN, was born. And this week, we have the extreme pleasure of hearing these tracks for the very first time. It comes in the form of a 3-track EP named, Blame Me.
The title track and lead single is a fresh dose of pioneering breakbeat, Dance Mania and Bush Tetras funk. Whilst on the flip side track 2, ‘Telephone Funk’, runs hot with a case of jungle fever, hyperventilating with heart racing exhilaration before the closer, 'Lion Tamer’, loses control of the beast in an 808 state.
PINK GIN is everything you thought a Canyons throwback could be, as it mirrors the fresh grooves of early club cuts 'Blues Snakes' and 'Fire Eyes'. All whilst displaying yet another side of this amazingly talent pair of producers.
