Lead guitarist of US death metal band Cannibal Corpse, Patrick O'Brien, has reportedly been arrested after he broke into his neighbour's home when a fire broke out in his house.

As WFTS reports, the 53-year-old musician reportedly broke into a residence in Northdale just before 7pm on Monday night where two people were inside. O'Brien allegedly pushed one of the victims to the ground and ran into their backyard.

Police were soon on the scene and, after disobeying their orders, O'Brien allegedly rushed one of the deputies with a knife. He was eventually taken down with an "electronic control device" and arrested.

O'Brien, who has been played with Cannibal Corpse since 1997, was charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer with a deadly weapon and burglary of an occupied dwelling with assault or battery.

During this time, fire emergency services were responding to a blaze allegedly at O'Brien's home. Officers claim that O'Brien ran from the house when the fire began.

Cannibal Corpse are yet to respond publicly to O'Brien's arrest. It comes in the same week that the band were announced to support Slayer's farewell tour in North America this May.
