And The Dundie Goes To… ‘The Office’ Star Named Cameo’s Highest 2020 Earner

That’s a lot of chilli.

Cameo has spilt the chilli on the year’s highest earner on the celebrity shoutout platform, and, unsurprisingly, it’s a star from The Office who claims the Dundie.

As Variety notes, Brian Baumgartner, aka Kevin Malone in the widely successful series, earned over $1 million USD from the app in 2020, charging $195USD per video.

The result was confirmed by Cameo co-founder and CEO Steven Galanis on a recent episode of New York Times podcast Sway.

“It’s his persona. He really takes a lot of pride in his craftsmanship of the videos. And I do think the quality of the cameo is something that is really important to people,” Galanis said.

“And he just is somebody that really takes it seriously and does a great job. He’s reliable. He turns them around quickly. And the content is really funny. And in general, comedians tend to do best. So to your point about like joking or roasting, that’s a really big use case. So it’s not a surprise that the comedians do better than anybody else.”

Earlier this year, Baumgartner launched An Oral History Of The Office, a 12-episode podcast that “discusses the origins, struggles and successes of the show, with behind-the-scenes interviews involving the entire cast and crew”.
